Dancing Champ wins!
6/1/2004 Quito, Ecuador -
Jennifer Hawkins from Sydney, Australia was was caught completely off guard hearing her name announced as the new Miss Universe in front of a full-capacity audience. Outgoing Miss Universe Amelia Vega of Dominican Republic crowned her with a custom diamond and pearl crown designed by Mikimoto. Hawkins is a dancer since the age of 5, in 2001 she was chosen the winner of a national dance competition by a panel of judges & the audience. She's into modelling & water sports, such as surfing and wakeboarding. Her year-long reign will take her around the globe as an ambassador for organizations like YouthAIDS, the Global Health Council, amfAR & many others.
