Whether such prediction will materialize or not, it is an undeniable fact that in Europe, blondes are the hot picks these days. Czech Republic, Ukraine, Estonia, Slovak Republic will be represented by blondes at this year's Miss Universe and well, so is Finland! Essi Pöysti is Miss Finland 2009 and she is a stunning blonde enough for beauty experts to conclude that she is a strong contender for the crown. Does Essi got enough talent, beauty and character to bring back the crown once again to Finland?

Why did you join the Miss Finland contest?
I was always told to take part of Miss Finland contest, and I actually took part there in 2007, but it was not successful for me. In December 2007 I was sent to represent Finland in Malaysia - Miss Tourisim Metropolitan Int., where I accomplished the 3rd place or the 2nd runner-up title. That is why I joined to Miss Finland contest in 2009. I wanted to show how I have changed in two years and that I will be experienced, international and typical Finnish girl with blond hair and blue eyes, to represent Finland in Miss Universe.
If you would become the Miss Universe 2009, what will be the first thing you will do?
The very first thing will be the feeling of unbelief that my dreams came true and a huge happiness and shock. After that I will show to whole world, that I was the right choice.
What is the most unique or the most unusual thing that had happened in your life?
The most unique thing that has happened to me is the winning of Miss Finland title. Not many girls achieve such an honor to represent your own country in the international beauty contest. It is also such an honor to be a role model for young girls, who are admiring Miss Finland.
Do you think the swimsuit contest at beauty pageants degrades women?
No, I do not think so. Of course, it may feel so, but if the place is right and the swimsuits are okay, then it's fine. I am very keen on equality of women and men, and I think I would have not taken part to any beauty contest if I thought that the swimsuit contest at beauty pageants degrades women.
Could you give us a rough idea of what will be your national costume for Miss Universe 2009 and what does it represents?
My national costume will be something that everyone knows about Finland all around the world. It will represent Finland, Lapland and Santa Claus.
What are the three most important things that you will be bringing with you at Miss Universe 2009?
1) My experiences and internationality which I already have collected through my life.
2) A lot of happiness and humour, to survive through the tough Miss Universe contest.
3) My knowledge of Finland to spread it around the world.
Which shoes would you prefer: Jimmy Choo or Manolo Blahnik?
Jimmy Choo, because I have personally met him in Malaysia. :) But I love both of them shoes, because I am crazy about high-heels.
What is your favorite color and why?
My favourite color is blue, because it represents happiness, and it is very fresh colour. It is also the color of my country.
What does the victory of Barack Obama in US Presidential elections mean to you and your country Lebanon?
I think that Barack Obama was a right person to be elected as US president. He is a very ambitious person and an excellent speaker, with a huge amount of verbal skills. The election of Obama has only positive impact for my country and whole world, if everything goes as he has promised.
