She's classy, she's poised, she's queenly - and she's Rachel Kum. The new Miss Singapore Universe will carry the hopes of a small island-state in the Miss Universe 2009 pageant. History is against her as Singapore's record at the pageant consists of two semi-finalists only. But that uphill climb can be compensated by the confidence and aura that sorrounds Rachel. Will Singapore finally have a Miss Universe?

I joined it for the experience and also because it would be a once in a lifetime chance to represent my country.
The first thing that I do, would be to share the glory for my country, my parents and my close friends then use the title to do things for a good cause such as charity work, awareness and beauty pageant is not just about being a flesh parade, etc.
Different countries have different cultures, there is no right or wrong to have a swimsuit segment in a beauty pageant. There is only suitable or unsuitable. I feel that its always polite to compromise and give my fullest respect to one’s countries culture and beliefs.
It will be designed by Raffles Design Institute Singapore . The costume will be chosen from among a few designs, and then picked by a panel of judges as well as by votes from the public.

His victory meant constructive changes in society where he can strengthen the ties of friendship and close cooperation uniting countries and on building of a world of freedom, justice and peace.
It is my pleasure to represent my country to participate in such a prestigious beauty pageant. I hope to get their fullest support and I will do my best to bring glory to my pageant fans and my country.
