How long has it been since we saw a Slovak Goddess? Quite a bit, actually. Enter Denisa, an international high-fashion model who aims to break her country’s dry spell in Miss Universe. Her good shape and beautiful baby blue eyes form the mixed temperature of youth, glamour and mystification, which make her a favorite of pageant experts.
If you are the answer, what is the question?
Who is the proudest woman in the Slovak Republic to have the opportunity to represent the best of her country in Miss Universe 2009?
In the sea of beautiful universal women who will set foot in the Bahamas, what should make you stand out?
The fact that I have competed in the national pageant for three times helped me in many ways. I gained much more confidence, experience and learned what a successful titleholder needs to possess – that is her own shine. I expect many strong contenders this year in the Bahamas but I believe the real Slovak girl with international experience can have that reputed "it-factor."
If you could trade places with any other famous person for a week, real or fictional, with whom would it be & why?
As a model, I traveled all over the globe and met huge amount of people who adore Miss Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of American Vogue. She is an icon, a role model for many so I would like to switch positions with her in order to find out whether her life is really as glamorous and powerful as it is being presented.
What is your worst quality?
I am stubborn. When I set my goal it is almost impossible to stop me. (laughs!)
Describe your fashion sense & style.
After the years of modeling I can value clothes of high quality. I prefer feminine and comfortable style at the same time.
What's inside your bag right now?
The common thing I always carry with me – wallet, lip-gloss, keys, cell phone, perfume, music player and diary.
Any beauty secrets that you would like to share the readers of Missosology?
The most important beauty secrets are to sleep enough, eat healthy and to remove your makeup before you go to bed. These are the generally duplicated but the most effective and guaranteed secrets ever.
What is your personal quote or motto that you live by?
It is the one by Judy Garland, "Always be a first-rate version of yourself instead of a second-rate version of someone else."
Tell us about your preparations for the Miss Universe contest.
I am aware of the fact that in the previous years the evening gown choice is the weakest feature of the Slovak contestants in Miss Universe. This year I designed my gown with help of the great designer Robert Bartolen. I practice my English, read about the Bahamas and spend much more time in gym.
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you?
Rachel McAdams. She is the same vibrant person as me.
One of your co-candidates decides to visit your country, where would you take her?
The tour would start in my lovely hometown – Bratislava, the capital of the Slovak Republic. I would show her the historical center as well as some of my favorite places. Then I would show her our national treasure – The High Tatras mountain, often referred to as “the smallest ones in the world.” A lot of different and unique plants and animals can be found there.
If you were a type of food, what type of food would you be?
I guess maybe an orange. It’s fresh, tasty and healthy.
If you were written about in the newspaper, on the front page, what would the headline say?
Denisa made it! Slovak representative at Miss Universe has finally brought our country back to the pageant map!
Lastly, what's your special message to the worldwide visitors of Missosology, most specially to your fans & supporters?
Thank you so much for the support! I really appreciate it and surely I will be following Missosology during the Miss Universe pageant in the Bahamas!
