Hot Picks Week 7 After a series of public "consultation", Missosology decided to have its own say on the Hot Picks. This week, Week 7, the results are quite different from the public choice. As of now, only few countries are yet to choose their delegates so, things are a little bit clearer. Please click the image above to see a larger picture. Our top fifteen choices are as follows: 1. Iveta Lutovská-CZECH REPUBLIC2. Zsuzsa Budai-HUNGARY 3. Emiri Miyasaka-JAPAN 4. Ada Aimeé de la Cruz-DOMINICAN REPUBLIC 5. Kristina Kots-Gotlib-UKRAINE 6. Kristen Dalton-UNITED STATES 7. Stefania Fernandez-VENEZUELA 8. Jessica Umańa Solis-COSTA RICA 9. Diana Arno-ESTONIA 10. Rachael Finch-AUSTRALIA 11. Ekta Chowdhry-INDIA 12. Tatum Keshwar-SOUTH AFRICA 13. Begüm Kiziltug-TURKEY 14. Diana Croes-ARUBA 15. Michelle Rouillard-COLOMBIA
Hot Picks Week 6 This is the last week that we will be asking you to choose our Hot Picks. The following weeks will see our World Beauty Council taking over the job. The results of our poll and my analyses are as follows:
The last Hot Picks of Miss Universe 2009 ended with Miss Brazil Larissa Costa winning. Brazilians will do anything to support their delegate and utilized several platforms: Facebook, Orkut, Twitter, Voy Forums….You name it they got it! While many critics gave not-so-pleasing comments on Larissa, Brazilians voted by the thousands firmly believing that their delegate is the best. Don’t argue with them because Brazilians are connoisseurs of beauty. I remember during Miss World 2008 where I don’t find the Brazilian delegate a strong contender but after featuring her at Beauty Talks, it turned out that she has what it takes and some photos did not do justice to her real shining beauty. It turned out to be true! So, watch out for Larissa because she could exceed your expectations!
Begüm Kiziltug on Turkey is also another delegate that we had been watching for a very long time. I think that it is the right year to give the Turkish people the attention they deserve. They had been sending beautiful delegates at Miss Universe but many don’t bother to give them a semi-final spot largely because the word Turkey does not equate to Miss Universe. This must change!
On third place is Miss Russia Sofia Rudieva. Donald Trump made it clear days ago that it’s okay for Miss California to pose nude so, Sofia need not to bother at all. I think that she made a mistake for posing nude in a tasteless manner. Money is a huge motivator and I took pity on her. I think that she is beautiful and a wonderful person that made a huge mistake. There is no doubt that she is in personal turmoil right now. We earlier reported she was stripped of her title but apparently, Miss Russia decided to overturn that decision or perhaps the decision wasn’t made black and white at all. If anything, her nude photos will only make her more famous at Miss Universe 2009.
We had made it clear that Vo Hoang Yen may end up as Asia’s strongest delegate this year. She did not disappoint us in this poll. She is the leading vote getter in Asia and she’s ranked fourth! We already made an analysis on her and you can check it out at the In Focus section.
On the top 5 is Miss Australia Rachel Finch. She is a stunner from Down Under that evokes the spirit of Laura and Jennifer. Interestingly she is not a blonde but her figure, her face, her aura is the best that we have seen.
We had been talking about the “blonde tsunami” for quite sometime. This is some sort of phenomenon wherein I believe that a blonde will eventually be the Miss Universe 2009. In this poll, the one who spearheads that “blonde tsunami” phenomenon is Miss Slovakia Denisa Mendrejova. She is a beautiful Slovak blonde who could be the next Miss Universe. I have faith that Miss Slovak Republic 1994 Silvia Lakatosova has enough resources and talent to appropriately train Denisa.
Marigona Dragusha will continue the campaign that was started last year. Many countries do not recognize the independence of Kosovo but they are bound to impress us all at beauty pageants. Kosovar beauty is Albanian in form with Slavic attitude producing great beauty queens. There is no doubt that Marigona will perform well at Miss Universe 2009.
Kristina Kots Gotlib is ranked eighth and she is indeed a serious delegate. The financial and political muscle of Aleksandra Nikoyalenko is backing her up and her blonde hair is a huge plus for her. After all, I believe a blonde will win this year.
Many of our web visitors claim out loud that the integrity of the Hot Picks is greatly compromised by having Jewel Selver, Miss Turks and Caicos, in the top 9. I beg to disagree. I think that it is a signal that we should depart from the usual notion that you have to be physically beautiful to win the Miss Universe crown. Personally, I saw in beauty pageants that all delegates are actually beautiful! They only differ in personality. I saw how delegates with superior physical beauty being beaten by other delegates because of personality issues. Jewel Selver has loads of positive personality. She is confident as in a recent interview she did not hesitate to declare she could do well at Miss Universe 2009. She is not insecure and completely not intimidated. I then remembered Miss Turks and Caicos 2000 Clintina Gibbs who was not afraid to sashay her unconventional body figure. I am of course not implying that Jewel will be the Miss Universe 2009. I am saying that we should not conclude that all hopes of being in the Top 15 or winning are completely shut out for her. After all she is a representative of a country and she is beautiful in her own even if she does not conform to what is conventional.
Meanwhile, as all the spotlight is being unnecessarily diverted to Carrie Prejean, Miss USA Kristen Dalton is completely ignored in her homeland nowadays. The stunning blonde is the clear leader from the start. Even the first Miss USA Hot Picks of Missosology picked her as the clear winner. It’s been a long time since USA won the Miss Universe crown. I have a hunch they will have it this year.
Miss Serbia Zorana Tasovac is on the 11th spot and I love some of her photos. She is largely ignored by beauty experts but there is some sort of hidden aura that are yet to be seen from her. So carefully watch her at Miss Universe 2009.
Sara Cosic (# 12) of Croatia and Whitney Toyloy (#13) are beautiful delegates that fell below the radar of many beauty observers. I think that both of them are capable of pulling a surprise. Let’s not dwell on false hopes though as they are bound to face huge and formidable opposition. Nevertheless, they have what it takes to be in the Top 15.
Two blondes complete our Top 15: Miss Estonia Diana Arno and Miss Czech Republic Iveta Lutovská. Both of these delegates are worthy to become Miss Universe so much so that I already alerted everyone that circumstances are trending towards the crowning of a blonde Miss Universe. I can only hope that they will be rigidly trained and be given good support to further enhance their beauty and personality. If that will happen, other countries can only look by the sidelines with envy.
Hot Picks Week 5 Synopsis: Karla Carillo is still leading and this is quite rather predictable because the current pictures of Mexican contestants are simply wonderful. It is perhaps the right time for Mexico to have another crown. There are so many instances when this country performed well but was denied the right award. New comers USA (No. 4), Australia (No. 6), Kosovo (No. 13) and Vietnam (No. 15) did fare well. Miss United States Kristen Dalton in particular received good number of votes dispelling claims that the now-famous first runner-up should be in her place. Miss Australia Rachael Finch is a lady to watch. But here’s a tip for her: she should learn from last year’s Miss Universe Australia Laura Dundovic. Meanwhile, Miss Kosovo Marigona Dragusha is simply irresistible. Will we see another semifinalist from this newly-formed country? Miss Vietnam Vo Hoang Yen emerged as a possible top contender from Asia. She will have to wrestle the attention from traditional powerhouse India and emerging superpower Japan. Ranked third last week, Miss Thailand Chutima Durongdej settled for 19th place. Meanwhile, tasked to end eight year Miss Universe drought of the Philippines, Pamela Bianca Manalo in on the 16th place. Meanwhile, trouble-plagued Miss France Chloe Mortaud is on the 17th place.
