Miss Universe 2009: Miss Dominican Republic, Ada Aimee De la Cruz
From her humble beginnings to her famed status, Ada flourished as a glamazon with a kind of beauty that crosses all borders. Insanely beautiful with legs that go on forever, she was hurdles ahead of the preliminary competition in swimsuit (terrific statuesque physique) and in gown (sophistication & confidence shining through her body movements). With her go-getting spirit and effervescent energy, Ada just captivates people. And there is something about her facially that is not made up, and she seems very relatable! Is it time for another black Miss Universe? We have yet to
see!
1st runner-up: Miss USA, Kristen Dalton
A perfect gown, a perfect presentation, and a perfect face that made her look like the obvious top contender for the Miss Universe crown. Kristen managed to turn all of her critics into instant lovers! She may not facially photograph well at all but in motion- Kristen is gorgeous as a blonde. She's also got a dynamite body no matter what angle you look at it. We will certainly get a new Miss USA when Trump hands her the Miss Universe crown.
2nd runner-up: Miss Australia, Rachael Finch
Beauty with brains is a rare, but glorified package. We are doing our part to glorify it by selecting Rachael. Almost everyone's top pick from day 1, she is the embodiment of the "girl-next-door" cliché. Her spunky character makes us believe she's only about being sweet, but there is more to her than just smiles, she is also hypnotic! She is voguish and personable, doesn't take herself too seriously, and is able to poke fun at
herself-
worthy traits in our books! She’s also everything that the MUO looks for in their titleholder. Plus, she has a versatile look- Rachael can be the "cutesy type" and yet has universally appealing features.
3rd runner-up: Miss Belgium, Zeynep Sever
You might not remember her name, but you can never forget her face. Taliana 2.0. Missosology’s sentimental favorite has a smile that never stops! The kind of reactions people give Zeynep are unparalleled compared to other contestants. She is truly the essence of beauty. Her competition gown was interesting. That's our code for disastrous! Despite wearing one of the worst gowns, she is sheer perfection and is just too enticing to ignore!
4th runner-up: Miss Kosovo, Marigona Dragusha
Marigona sets her own standard as a Miss Universe contestant, where comparisons are useless. When someone's wardrobe or fashion statement sticks out in our memories, it's usually because it is a rather an unexpected fashion sense. This applies to her.
Many consider Marigona to be the epitome of sophistication, and she has been able to parlay her modeling prowess into the competition. Daring, bold, excellent timing, great presentation- she has an aura of Hollywood glamour! She has definitely won the evening gown preliminary portion.

Top 6: Miss Venezuela, Stefania Fernandez
Red was hotter than ever! Stefania, who was wearing a fun, fitted dress with a dramatic feathery bottom, rolled up in flawless fashion by moving in synch with the music. Whatever magic formula Osmel did to her is certainly working well. She’s looking like an
enchanting
movie star and a vision of elegance from some bygone era.
Top 7: Miss France, Chloe Mortaud
When Chloe pulled out the glamour card during the prelims, she took everyone's breath away with her titanium gown. She has a face that can light up the stage. She upstaged all her co-candidates in the flash department! This French Barbie doll, whose winsome
exoticism
and
woman of mystery allure may be just what the judges ordered. She looks so AMAZING in gown. It totally fits her like a glove!
Top 8: Miss Russia, Sofia Rudyeva
Slowly, almost meticulously, she has turned herself into one of the pageant’s favorite vixens. Her sex appeal is beyond subtle- it's in your face. She really is mind-blowing stunning- from her eyes, lips and skin.
Top 9: Miss Mexico, Karla Carrillo
Karla is too far ahead of the pack in appearance to be derailed by her seemingly flat interview skills. She gets in on looks alone. Whether it's the tantalizing eyes, or the voluptuous body, there is something magical about her. A true test of a woman's beauty is how long you can really look at her. In Karla's case, we stopped counting after 15 minutes.
Top 10: Miss Puerto Rico, Mayra Matos
Even if Mayra's rise to fame has not been an easy and obstacle-free road, she has nonetheless made it to the top. Despite the pageant patty make-up and hair, she somehow flowed across the stage with soft, natural confidence. We know there's talk of strategy, but where is it? The time to bring out "the big guns" is reserved for the grand finale!

Top 11: Miss Spain, Estibaliz Pereira
This stylish Señorita’s wardrobe is always sharp. Sophistication is her middle name. Estibaliz wears an evening gown the way it's supposed to be worn and handles herself with poise and dignity. She brought back the name of Spain as a pageant powerhouse, especially after more than a few disappointments in the past years. What’s instantly likeable about her is the charisma & warmth she exudes.
Top 12: Miss Netherlands, Avalon-Chanel Weyzig
She can probably wear anything and look delightful. Avalon has the "je nais sei quais" (let's just call it a "I know something you don't know" twinkle!!!). Extremely sultry and appealing, she has a huge likeability factor. She is also memorable enough to stand out.
Top 13: Miss Philippines, Pamela Bianca Manalo
The biggest surprise of the night! Her trainers have really polished this diamond and you can tell that she's shining during her time out in Nassau. Breathtaking the minute she walked onstage in swimsuit, Bianca has instantly vaulted to the top ranks! Furthermore, she doesn't need a pound of makeup on her face to look beautiful. She came with her guns loaded and will give a tough fight until the end. She brought it, served it and has nothing to worry about, she did her absolute best!
Top 14: Miss Czech Republic, Iveta Lutovska
Seriously, who's built like this? She’s dauntingly fit and her figure is phenomenal! Iveta can burn up the screen with a glance. When she walked out in swimsuit, we knew it was all over! She was unbeatable in this department. She carried it off like the professional she is. Her supermodel runway performance is of top-quality!
Top 15: Miss Italy, Laura Valenti
Laura 's sex appeal is partly derived from her European old-world charm. It's that slight element of snobbishness, (which a cultured woman often has), that drives men insane, and that places her slightly above other delegates. In Laura’s case, her appeal jumps right at you, especially when you hear her sensual accent.

Top 16: Miss South Africa, Tatum Keshwar
South Africa has a streak of sending stellar delegates to Miss Universe. Her gown is great as the sensuality she projected in it. We'd love to rate Tatum higher since she's been the most consistent and solid in every phase of competition but missed our Top 15
list
by the slightest of margins! She is class and modishness mixed with brains and her own unique beauty.
Top 17: Miss Jamaica, Carolyn Yapp
The tropical heat wave Carolyn carries, could cause the Amazon to dry up. Her low key approach in the prelims was about her just getting warmed up. She definitely has a competitive spirit needed to win.
Top 18: Miss Indonesia, Zivanna Letisha Siregar
Zivanna burst onto the scene, looking spectacular and moved beautifully in her gown. She has lots of stage spark! Her on stage presence is second to none.
Top 19: Miss Ukraine, Kristina Kots-Gotlib
The projections that she gives when she is looking into the camera are playfulness at its best! Kristina remains a true delight (a corny but accurate description of her), able to defy beauty pageant stereotypes. She was as cool as a cucumber with a beautiful smile painted across a striking face attached to a beautiful figure. Her eye contact with the judges is mesmerizing; she locked her spot solely with that!
Top 20: Miss Slovak Republic, Denisa Mendrejova
A "vamp" model type, Denisa has the kind of body that makes you go va-va-voom! Will Slovak Republic finally crack the Top 15 after 15 years of waiting? She is the Blonde Bombshell of the pageant. One of the most favorable European delegates, she will most likely penetrate the semis since MUO markets the pageant to European fan base.
Top 21: Miss Peru, Karen Schwarz
Karen has been the most pleasant surprise out of all the delegates. She is the best looking Peruvian to come along since Debora Sulca. How could you dump such a beauty? She looked absolutely sensational onstage- remarkable in swimsuit and had one of the more fashion forward evening gowns of the group.
Top 22: Miss Colombia, Michelle Rouillard
She has undergone some incredible changes in image by sporting a very short hair. Michelle just has the face to be discovered, she just plays it very real and relies on her looks to stun you, and guess what, she does! There’s Latin oomph & star quality all over her. She’s very well-prepared and wants this bad! You can tell- maybe a little too much. She'd do great at
Miss Universe.
