Miss Russia 2012 contestants visited a hospital for children with cardiovascular diseases

Мария (Саратов), Екатерина (Иркутск), Вероника (Краснодар), Екатерина (Санкт Петербург), Анастасия (Волгоград)

Maria of Saratov, Ekaterina of Irkutsk, Veronica Shilova of Krasnodar, Ekaterina Maksimova of St. Petersburg and Anastasia Ovchinnikova of Volgograd pose during a visit to the children's hospital for cardiovascular diseases.

The Miss Russia contestants, 50 in total, spend a week of preparations for the finals. They hit the gym to get fit and underwent several seminars under the tutelage of professional trainers. On top of these hectic schedule, the Miss Russia 2012 contestants spent their Valentine's Day at the children's hospital. This is part of the charitable activities by the pageant.

Уже больше недели 50 самых красивых девушек страны готовятся к юбилейному финалу Национального конкурса «Мисс Россия». Помимо регулярных тренировок и занятий с профессиональными педагогами, для участниц проводятся различные конкурсы и мастер-классы. Одним из промежуточных этапов, стал «Благотворительный проект», где все девушки должны были представить свои планы по развитию социальной и благотворительной деятельности.

The contestants helped the sick children prepare artworks and crafts based on the hospital's cherished program "Healing Through Creativity"

В рамках программы «Исцеление через творчество» финалистки и победительницы конкурса приезжают к детям и вместе рисуют и создают различные поделки.

Meanwhile, the official website of Miss Russia revealed that one of the judges for the pageant is Miss World 2011 Ivian Sarcos. This is a surprising choice considering most of the time, it is the reigning Miss Universe that usually gets invited. In 2009, Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Mendoza was there with Miss World 2008 Ksenia Sukhinova - a rare occasion but not surprising since Ksenia was to pass her crown to next Miss Russia. In 2010, Miss Universe 2009 Stephania Fernandez helped crown Irina Antonenko and in 2011, Ximena Navarrete sat as one of the jury and helped crown Natalia Gantimorova.
