In November, Paula Shugart, President of Miss Universe Organization, led a team of 4 inspecting Sun City, its facilities and possible venue for Miss Universe 2012. She stopped short in confirming that South Africa will indeed be the 2012 host of the world's most prestigious pageant.
A newspaper quoted what Paula Shugart told the press way back in November 2011
“We had a very good experience here and it is our hope that we will come back for the pageant next year,” she said. Pressed to say whether South Africa had won the bid, Shugart said: “We have a few days to discuss this because we have to go back to NBC Universal owner Donald Trump, but South Africa has my support and we would like to come back here.”
And now, rather unexpectedly, Miss Universe 2011 Leila Lopes jetted to South Africa in February 16, 2012. She was warmly welcomed by Miss South Africa 2012 Melinda Bam. Both Melinda and Leila used the subject #MUAFRICA in twitter. Is this an indication that indeed South Africa will host Miss Universe 2012? Do you think South Africa will be a great host country?
