Miss International 2005 - Malaysia's bet, Winnie Chan is undeniably beautiful. Because of her face made perfect for the cameras, she became an instant delight not just to the photographers & press but also to the Japanese locals. The same can be said with her sense of style. The apparels that she put on during her appearances were unparalleled. Moreover, her long, shiny black hair & sweet smile butter up her Oriental good looks. But even with the presence of a Malaysian judge, she still didn't manage to make the cut.
Why oh why?
National Costume. In this category, the judges get the chance to see the girls for the first time, so you must make a very good impression. Miss Malaysia came out strikingly attractive with her pink modern attire. However, it’s hard to distinguish "Malaysia" and Malaysian culture in her national costume. Ironically, though, they spend millions of dollars promoting their country at CNN and various international business magazines to be "Truly Asia..." But where's Malaysia in that costume, more so Asia?
Swimsuit. Miss Malaysia was paired with an equally sexy Miss Mongolia. Malaysia had a slender body, very proportionate we must admit, but she looked tad short at 5'5" with her very long hair. Although her long black hair became an important factor in her unexpected fame, it became hindrance during the swimsuit portion. Winnie's hair reaches down to her butt, making her look stunted. Having too many Asian faces right before her (Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Macao), and the fact that she's paired with another Oriental beauty (Mongolia) could have been too much for the judges to take.
Evening Gown. Winnie's pink number was a perfect choice. The elongated bodice hushed up her stature. However, the flower tucked on her right ear must be taken off and fed to her. This category could have been her chance to redeem herself, but alas she tripped! At that point, we said "That was it!" She blew it off!

The other girls who were almost perfect throughout the coronation night yet failed to make the cut were Miss El Salvador Ana Saidia Palma Rebollo & Miss Spain Maria del Pilar Domínquez.
