Best & Worst of Miss Earth 2004 | |

Best in National Costume
|
Worst in National Costume Que horrrooorr!,
we overheard the Puerto Rican national director screech in terror upon seeing the
gigantic 6'1" tall
Miss USA, Stephanie Brownell clad in a
statue-of-liberty-inspired number. Miss Brownell gave a cheesy impression with
her costume that any high school student can easily whip-off for a high-school play. It doesn't help either that her "coronet" is made of carton!

The Best in Gown We are evaluating the gowns not just through its wearer but essentially on overall impact it makes.
Egyptian bombshell Arwa Gouda appeared glamorous in her black number. You can compare her to an A-List Hollywood celebrity with that kind of getup. To complete the look, her sexy gown was complemented with lime cabbage roses. Her ease completely won as over. • We also loved Miss Brazil Priscilla Meirelles' fire-engine red gown. The style is fresh and personalized, without compromising her innate elegance. Priscilla is indeed a timeless beauty to behold. • The dangerous yet sleek lines & cuts in the gown of Miss Poland Karolina Gorazda flattered her great figure. She personifies your typical sweet & sexy babe. She did well on carriage & style.

![]() ![]() The Worst in Gown Miss India Jyoti Brahmin
may have stirred up drama during her long gown presentation but her gown was eventually highly criticized by experts. It's very unbecoming & rare to see an Indian dressed in a tacky gown
on a beauty competition because they are normally seen wearing wonderful designs. Jyoti's pink gown, embellished with white polka-dots, beads and a shawl was indeed- worst. • The upper part of the gown of Miss Belgium Ruchika Sharma was hideous. The wacky bodysuit with floral pumps all over was a complete mess. Her super-fit skirt gave an impression of being out of shape too! • It's prim, it's proper but the gown didn't suit the babe-factor of the blond-haired, blue-eyed, extremely sexy Miss Finland Iida Laatu. It was a complete turn-off, really.
| Best in Swimsuit Miss Martinique Murielle Celimene was crowned Miss Air, Miss Earth's equivalent to first runner-up, putting her country on the map. A black Barbie-doll brought to life, she oozed with sex appeal, even when she walks. We chose her
as best in swimsuit because of her shapely legs, perfect form & sizzling catwalk. Murielle is indeed sexy from head to toe & we cannot end our endless praises for her without mentioning her nice bangs & luscious mouth.
| Worst in Swimsuit The Worst in Swimsuit goes to Switzerland's Simone Röthlisberger. We don't want to sound harsh but Simone didn't obviously meet the requirements
of the swimsuit competition. Yeah, she's beautiful in her own right but her national director should've sent her to the gym to workout & maintain her figure. This type of body is a no-no in a major pageant such as Miss Earth where the physical form of a woman is one of
the vital parts of its judging system.

| Best Interview "Nature is crying. Love is missing, people don’t respect each other. Other people don’t respect nature and life. That is why nature is reacting to what people do to her. Love is what would solve our problems."
- Miss Brazil Priscilla Meirelles' answer to the question, "On a quiet night, you could hear the sounds of nature talking to you. What do you think is its message and what would you like to tell it back?"
| Worst Interview
As one of the 8 finalists, Miss Australia Shenevelle Dickson had to react to a footage. During this interview segment, the panel chooses four girls for the next round of the competition. When shown with a video clip that highlights the bombings in Iraq, Shenevelle couldn't hide her anxiety as she responded that she can only see fire & darkness. She said that the clips reminded her about how we should care & protect the environment... blah blah blah... Her answer seemed rehearsed and unconnected to the real issue that the video portrays.

Pageant contestants are forgotten from time to time but
in this year's Miss Earth pageant, a few will remain
unforgotten and that includes
Miss Paraguay Yanina Gonzalez.
Her participation in Miss Earth thrilled many pageant
fans. Another memorable beauty of Miss Earth 2004 is Tahiti's Stephanie Lesage. Her interview was equally memorable as her beauty. After seeing images of tortoises playing in shallow waters (during the Top 8 interview round), she articulated how these creatures are being protected from poachers back in her country. She added that laws protecting the environment should be reenacted. The Tahitian left the audience speechless after she concluded her answer with a Tagalog line, "alagaan po natin ang ating kalikasan" (let's take care of our environment). It was simple yet she expressed it genuinely. We can't help but smile.
