Press Reports
Rehearsals

In less than 12 hours, a new Miss Earth will be chosen. Missosology will present to you its Top 16 Predictions tomorrow morning. We saw which beauties remain fresh and beautiful during their rehearsals at the ABS-CBN studios and UP Theatre.
During the preparations for the final night, many delegates complained about the biased managing of the dry run. The favorites and the so-called front-runners were usually called in the "mock semifinal round." The "favoritism" dampened some of the girls' spirits.
Missosology found an interesting anecdote from Miss Thailand. Rathcadawan told us that she is actually studying in one of the biggest universities in Norway. When she flew to Manila, the Thai beauty was surprised to see her schoolmate and close friend, Birgitte Korsvik who happens to be Miss Norway Earth. "It's a small world!," she says with a big smile.
We've seen all girls as they take turns on the ramp. They were given the benefit of working on their catwalks for the swimsuit & evening gown rounds. Misses Martinique, Poland, Netherlands and Trinidad & Tobago move expertly like supermodels. If Tahiti's Stephanie Lesage resembles Miss World 2002 Azra Akin, we also found great resemblance of Miss World 2001 Agbani Darego to Miss Martinique, Murielle Celimene.
This year’s stage looks fabulous. The splendid colors and backdrops reflect the environmental theme of Miss Earth.
Watch out for the opening number of the Miss Earth delegates! The dance steps were drawn from Panikipikan (a cultural dance in the Philippines). Choreographers Lemma Diaz and Joane Laygo of Hotlegs added sexy twists to their number. Celebrity & Image Model Marc Nelson & MTV Vj Sarah Meier are the hosts of the event. Piolo Pascual, an award winning actor and singer will serenade the 8 finalists. Johnny Manahan is the chief director of the final night.
Swimsuit Competition
(8/10/04)
How do we determine a woman who displays sexiness in swimsuit? By what measures do we define feminine beauty and sensuality in a beauty contestant?
The judges and bigwigs evaluated the sexiness of each Miss Earth contestant for the title of Miss Earth Fort Ilocandia and the Best in Swimsuit Award at the fairways of Fort Ilocandia Hotel in Ilocos Norte.
The 7 beauties that were cuts above the rest for the Miss Earth Fort Ilocandia title were: Miss India Jyoti Brahmin, Miss Paraguay Yanina Gonzalez, Miss Lebanon Lana Khattab, Miss Finland Iida Laatu, Miss Colombia Maria Fernanda Navia, Miss Brazil Priscilla Meirelles and Miss Thailand Radchadawan Nakprasert. Miss Thailand is the overall winner. She received a sash, accommodations to Fort Ilocandia Resort and $2000 cash prize. It is the second time around that the Thai beauty won an award.
Other special awardees of the night include Miss Honduras (Miss Ponds Beautiful Skin), Miss Brazil (Miss Close-up Smile), Miss Paraguay (Miss Sunsilk for her silky hair) and Miss Israel (Miss Creamsilk). Winner of the Best in Swimsuit award will be announced during the final night of the pageant.
Missosologists also play the role of gods by determining the stand-outs among this year's batch of Miss Earth. The 10 beauties who made an impact on us speaking of their figure, sensual splendor, catwalk skills and body proportions were:
1.) Miss Paraguay, Yanina Gonzalez: There's something unmistakably sexy and terrific of this Paraguayan goddess. She could boil water with just a raise of an eyebrow. Well-toned body, nice tan, splendid projections- she’s a winner!
2.) Miss Israel, Keren Somech: Miss Body-beautiful of the night! Great abs and nice curls. We are kind of assured that Keren will earn her spot in the Top 16.
Fort Ilocandia, 5-star Resort in Nothern Luzon
3.) Miss Ghana, Maame Afua Akyeampong: She was stunning in her two-piece bikini. This woman of color is definitely top on our Best in Swimsuit list. Her exotic beauty cannot be understated.
4.) Miss New Zealand, Rachael Tucker: Men everywhere were barely breathing watching this babe strut.
5.) Miss Bolivia, Muriel Cruz: This Bolivian Amazon is starting to turn heads and mesmerize the public. Her swimsuit presentation was remarkable!
6.) Miss Serbia & Montenegro, Katarina Hadzipavlovic: We commend Serbia & Montenegro for their distinguished tradition of bringing fine-looking ladies in Miss Earth. Katarina is no different to her predecessors, Katarina Vucetic (who ranked 5th overall last year) and Sladjana Bozovic (Miss Earth Air 2002)
7.) Miss Brazil, Priscilla Meirelles: Excellent! We have no idea what the future holds for her... but rest assured, no matter what it holds, she’ll be a winner! No contestant can be as radiant and fresh as Priscilla. She remains consistent as she proved that her figure is also one of the best.
We also acclaim the following beauties: Misses Poland, Trinidad & Tobago, Nicaragua, Martinique & South Africa.
Long Gown Competition
(8/10/04)
A slight commotion occurred during the Long Gown competition when an earthquake hit the country. But it was not enough to spoil the evening because of the festive spirits and loud music inside the Casino Filipino Ballroom, the venue of the Long Gown Competition.
Most of the girls sported elegant and sophisticated gowns while others need lots of fashion pointers on the runway. Catwalk diva of the night was Miss Trinidad & Tobago, Leah Mari Guevara. Currently a ramp model, Leah was in New York for her modeling stints when the Miss Trinidad & Tobago organizers notified her of participation in Miss Earth. She was 2nd runner up to Faye Alibocas in the Miss Trinidad & Tobago Universe pageant last year.
Miss Paraguay, Yanina Gonzalez' classic good looks were matched by her equally sophisticated and refined gown she sported when she won the Miss Paraguay Universe crown. We witnessed her astonishing stage presence in the Miss Universe pageant also this year. Her spark never wanes.
There will be no surprise if Miss Honduras Gabriela Zavala shall be awarded Best in Long Gown. Not an ounce of Honduran conservatism is evident in her extremely stylish black gown that exposes her fine legs. The performances of Miss Brazil Priscila Meirelles & Miss Bosnia & Herzegovina Ana Suton were classic!
Miss Thailand Ratchadawan Khampheng continues to make her presence felt. She was awarded "Gandang Ricky Reyes" by the official make-up artists and hairstylists of Miss Earth.
Other beauties who registered well and pulled their gowns off beautifully were Misses Bolivia, Colombia, Egypt, Israel, Korea, New Zealand and Poland.
Press Presentation
(7/10/04)
Any local who has seen the beautiful Miss Earth 2004 candidates knows that they are the prime reason the pageant is already a hit. The candidates came in handy during the press presentation, as they introduced themselves, posed in swimsuit of their choice and paraded before invited foreign and local newsmen, photographers, and missosologists at the Poolside of the Intercontinental Manila.
Seventy (70) delegates from all over the world have confirmed their participation in Miss Earth 2004 thus confirming the standing of Miss Earth as one of the top three international pageants in the world. Unfortunately, some of the participating delegates missed today’s Press Presentation because of their late arrival in Manila. They will however have their own exposure to television and the press as they join the other pre-pageant activities.
Candidates who became popular to press and was most applauded by onlookers were Miss Brazil Priscilla Meirelles, Miss Philippines Tamera Szijarto, Miss Paraguay Yanina Gonzalez, Miss Puerto Rico Shanira Blanco, Miss Poland Karolina Gorazda, Miss Tahiti Stephanie Lesage, Miss Thailand Ratchadawan Khampheng, Miss Bolivia Muriel Cruz, Miss Ethiopia Ferehiyewot Abebe, Miss Peru Liesel Holler and Miss Trinidad & Tobago Leah Mari Guevara.

He also told the press that while a few countries have expressed strong and definite interest in hosting the Miss Earth pageant, he has informed them that Carousel Productions will only consider bringing out the competition to another country in Year 2006.
The Miss Earth Coronation Night will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2004, at 7:00 P.M. at the University of the Philippines Theater in Diliman, Quezon City. It will be telecast on a delayed basis at 9:30 P.M. on ABS-CBN Channel 2. It will also be televised on November 21, 2004 at 9 P.M. in the thirty-five (35) countries covered by the footprint of STAR World, the entertainment channel of STAR Group Ltd. (the biggest cable television network in Asia and the Middle East). Television viewers in Australia, the Middle East, Europe, Canada and the United States will also be able to watch Miss Earth at a later date on The Filipino Channel, ABS-CBN’s cable television network.
National Costume Competition
5/1O/2004

WINNERS ALL: Miss Honduras Gabriela Zavala, Miss Brazil
Priscilla Meirelles, Miss Philippines Tamera Szijarto, Miss Tahiti Stephanie Lesage, Miss Peru Liesel Holler
Delegates stepped out in their most exotic native dresses for the National Costume Competition. From costumes exposing cleavage and amazing legs, to fluffy and colorful styles, the diverse beauties of the night manifested their respective cultures.
The Best in National Costume was awarded to Miss Honduras Gabriela Zavala. She displayed a gigantic avant-garde dark-green costume before an amazed audience. Delegates who made it to the Top 5 Best Costumes were Misses Tahiti, Philippines, Brazil and Peru. Stephanie Lesage of Tahiti came out in a hawaiian-like costume and left the crowd awe-struck with her sizzling moves onstage. Miss Philippines, Tamera Marie Szijarto carried a classic filipiniana in her demure ways and garnered great applauses. Miss Brazil Priscilla Meireles' luxurious native number made one of the judges say, "winner!" Meanwhile, the mode of costume of Peru's Liesel Holler was also equally impressive.
