Combine an aura of Hollywood glamour & a voluptuous figure enough to attract attention & you have the creation that is Desiree Duran. There's something absolutely fascinating about her chosen branch of learning which investigates petroleum on a global scale. This heart stopping Boliviana put everything on hold to focus on the universal battle of beauty and brains.

What would your friends say to describe you?
My friends describe me as someone that is adaptable to any situation. I am such a true friend to anyone who would also consider me as a friend.

Tell something about your childhood dream.
From the time when I reached the age of reason, I dreamt of becoming a great actress, to arrive in Hollywood as the best in my area and to be recognized globally. I would like to be remembered around the world for my great acting. After participating in the Miss Universe pageant, I will try to pursue that dream and I won't be having a hard time since I'm already in Los Angeles - the home of Hollywood.

Can you share to us your beauty secret?
I apply vapor of manzanilla & honey evenly to my face and all over my body. It makes my skin very smooth and moisturized.

What is your favorite part of your body & why?
My eyes. They see reality and they are very expressive. It shows my feelings and what's inside of me.

What's inside your bag right now?
I have lip-gloss, post-its, eyebrow pencil, personal diary, cellular phone, tissues and keys to the house.

How would you define "beauty?"
It is the harmony of the external and internal qualities of an individual. If someone speaks the truth, such internal quality reflects in the person's exterior.

What were your reasons for joining the Miss Bolivia pageant?
I enlisted in the Miss Bolivia contest because of the idea that I can show my leadership qualities and thus defend with just and equality the general sentiment of many people. If I win I would be in a better position to be the mouthpiece of my countrymen of what they feel about our country.

How were you elected as Miss Bolivia Universe? Describe the judging process.
I joined the search of Miss Santa Cruz which was a charitable event of Club de Leones Hamacas. In here I was chosen as Miss Litoral where I automatically gained the ticket to join Miss Bolivia. I competed with other girls coming from the different provinces of Bolivia and I won among them.

What do you think are your qualities that helped you earn the judges' approval & the crown?
Definitely, my self-confidence, personal strength, energy and also the very good interview that I have shown during the final night.

Tell us about your preparations for the Miss Universe contest.
I underwent intensive classes on fashion and modelling, etiquette and protocol. I also have lessons in English and I go to the gym on a regular basis.

Can you tell something that is so interesting or unique about you?
I have the ability to perform and interpret the origin and creation of man through theatrical dance in 60 seconds.

Any beauty queen/s that you really admire? Why?
I admire Brook Lee so much. I have the opportunity to know her personally and I admire her self-confidence and the way she carried herself, the way she expressed her views and opinion. I also admire her for her great humility.

Describe your fashion sense and style.
It is very important for me to select a wardrobe that portrays my femininity and personality. I always go for comfort!

How will you describe your country to your co-candidates at Miss Universe?
I would tell them that Bolivia is a country that is like a paradise and it is a picture of a country that tries to preserve its history and natural beauty. You will find a lot of virgin forests and beautiful landscapes in my country. The best thing about Bolivians is the peace that resides within us. The concept of family is very important to us. Families spend quality time during mealtimes.

What is your opinion on activists' point of view that exposure of too much skin in the swimsuit competition disrespects women?
I believe that it greatly depends on the point of view of every person. In a beauty contest, the judges look for the harmony of internal & external beauty of participants. I believe that women exposing their
skin in beauty pageants is necessary not only to show that they have beautiful bodies but also testifies their hard-work in order to have good & healthy figures and it also means that women have power over their bodies.

Supposed there is a Genie who happens to be mad at you for a wrong deed committed and his punishment is to turn you into an animal for a year. You can't plead to alter his decision but you get to decide what type of animal you would become, what creature would you choose and why?
I would like to be an eagle because I would have the opportunity to observe a lot and be at liberty to fly everywhere, to witness the beauty of paradise from up above the skies and see what man does in this world.

If it were your last day on earth, what would you eat & why?
It is very difficult to choose any particular food to eat. But I'd like to have all the delicious natural delights that I know and would practically have them on the table to eat and taste all of them.

Do you have a motto or personal quote that you live by?
"Whatever you hope for and whatever your heart desires, everything becomes possible with the help of God."

Aside from winning your title, what's the best thing that has ever happened to you?
I am very thankful that I exist in this world, be able to fulfill and realize my dreams and above all, enjoy the beautiful things that life has to offer. I want to succeed and attain greater heights in the days to come.

Do you think winning a beauty pageant is really important? Tell us about your responsibilities as Miss Bolivia Universo titleholder.
Yes, because the title has opened doors of opportunities for me. I have the honor to represent Bolivia and help with all truthfulness in projecting and presenting the correct cultural heritage of my country.

Why do you want do be crowned Miss Universe and how would you define the title in your own terms?
I would like to be crowned Miss Universe because it will become a fulfillment to the hopes of those people who believes in me and it will be the first time for a Bolivian to be crowned Miss Universe. Being Miss Universe is the fullest representation of a woman of integral beauty, image and significantly, it would expand my knowledge of culture of other countries. It is practically a beautiful reality of all things to come if you are Miss Universe. If ever I win, I've just turned my greatest dream into reality!

What should pageant experts, your fellowmen, fans and beauty watchers expect from Miss Bolivia at Miss Universe 2006 pageant?
I am simple person with weaknesses, strengths and principles but I exert every effort to make things happen.

Finally, leave a message for your fans, supporters and the readers of Missosology.
