Priscila Perales will help Lupita Jones rub out her stigma that "she never wanted another Mexican to become Miss Universe." According to El Imparcial, Mexico's time-honored national director was always blamed for spoiling their delegates' chances. Miss Universe 1993 held in Mexico was perhaps the most controversial edition in the pageant's history. The exclusion of their bet Angelina González stirred immense commotion from the Mexican audience. They booed the entire night and even hurled their streamers & cardboards in all places. Lupita, who sat as one of the judges, was ruthlessly insulted. She confessed that she felt a lot of pressure from the Mexican people who thought that the Mexican candidate had to win just because she was a judge.

In hypothesizing Mexico's probability of earning their second crown, one has to evaluate their developments in pageantry. It has always been a "hit or miss" situation for this hopeful nation in Miss Universe.
Our assessment on Priscila's odds to winning indicates that she has everything it takes to grab the Miss Universe 2006 crown. Consider this sequence- from 1988-89, Mexico had back-to-back runner-up finish in Miss Universe, then Marilé de los Angeles del Rosario landed in the Top 5 the following year before the country finally won their first crown c/o Lupita in 1991. The consistency of Mexico not just in Miss Universe but also in other global pageants has become very evident lately. Will Rosalva Luna's Top 15 placement in 2004 and Laura Elizondo's 3rd runner-up finish last year ignite a Miss Universe 2006 scenario where Priscila Perales walks away with the Mikimoto tiara and Miss Universe sash?
