Think creamy Swiss chocolates, the enthralling scenery of the Alps and a weather that singes heat with a waft of icy feel to it. Think Lauriane Gilliéron. This year's Miss Switzerland Universe is adorable, in photographs and in real life. The delicate nature of her girlish features gained her countless of admirers from the world all over.

 

Lauriane grew up in Prilly, a little town of 10,000 inhabitants where her father is mayor. She is the eldest of four children. She expresses her love to her family and friends by constantly sending SMS messages. She has two cats and a rabbit. Lauriane is a vegetarian since the age of 7. She loves to eat salads & pasta and has a craving for candies. She is currently a Law student and is also attending an acting school. She hopes to become both an actress and a lawyer in the near future. She speaks French, German, English, and Italian.

   

Lauriane Gilliéron was crowned Miss Suisse 2005 on the 21st of September 2005. A woman from the French-speaking part of the country has for the first time in 11 years won this year's annual Miss Switzerland contest. Lauriane won hands down after television viewers were allowed for the first time in the competition's history to have the final say on who was the prettiest woman in Switzerland. Garnering 44.8 percent of the votes, she evidently won the hearts of viewers with her blonde looks and 85-60-91 figure. Lauriane confessed that she's an avid of fan of the Miss Suisse pageant. "I've always viewed the pageant on television and wanted to give it a try. Because of my involvement to dance sport, I never had the time to participate. Now I've fulfilled my wish. I love beauty. I want to show the entire world the very feminine side of me." Part of her prizes includes a car worth $23,000 and endorsement contracts totaling SFr250,000.    

 

The Miss Schweiz title carries lucrative prizes, a year of sponsor visits and many more responsibilities. Lauriane was very busy throughout her reign. As Miss Suisse, she's expected to conduct photo & autograph sessions with numerous sponsors, and to travel the entire country promoting them. She also participates in several events such as store openings, business openings and fashion shows. On top of that, she will have to represent the country in 2 of the most prestigious beauty pageants in the world, the Miss World and Miss Universe pageants. Many ex-Misses Suisse have embarked on successful careers as television presenters, actresses and models. "It is really incredible. One has much, much to do. Before winning the title, I was another simple student. Now my life has totally changed - a beautiful life," Lauriane exclaims.

 

This blond-haired charmer is also best known for her achievements in Swiss Latin Dance Championships. She has represented Switzerland in various international dancing competitions.
