There are things like an enigmatic attractiveness & a sweltering deportment that some ex-pageant winners possess which contributed greatly to their success, & these are just a few of the knockout assets that Lourdes has. Besides having a dangerously curvaceous body & a towering 6'0" height, the Paraguayans' pride supervises her own antiquaries business.

What would your friends say to describe you?
They would say that I am a good person, simple, happy, and supportive. I am the kind of friend that you can count on unconditionally, in any place or time. And oh! I am a very good cook as well!

Tell something about your childhood dream.
When I was about 8 years old, my dream was to have more than twelve brothers whom I can play with. I really hoped to have a big family so I can share beautiful moments with them. My wish may not be granted but I'm so happy that I have three sisters that I also consider as my best friends.

Can you share to us your beauty secret?
I don't really have a beauty secret, but I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, I drink a lot of water and I stroll around to breathe the very fresh air of my country.

What is your favorite part of your body & why?
It is my face because it reflects my feelings at the moment and it gives an impression that I'm quite an expressive person.

What's inside your bag right now?
In my bag, you can find incredible things that a woman can have. I carry photos of my loved ones, documents, my cell phone, some basic makeup and delicacies that are really tempting.

How would you define "beauty?"
I believe that beauty is a combination of beautiful things. It is not just having a pretty face or a beautiful body but it is accompanied by beauty that is deep seated in the individual's interior. It is reflected as a beautiful sentiment and happiness in the individual. This outwardly demeanor is beauty in itself compared to just physical beauty alone.

What were your reasons for joining the Miss Paraguay Universe pageant?
I loved being challenged and I love its sense of competition. I am a type of person that sets goals and objectives. I didn't actually plan to participate in the Miss Universe Paraguay pageant but Promociones Gloria as an organization is really impressive and the kind of event that they are able to put on is attractive. The girls presented during the pageant were also topnotch.

How were you elected as Miss Paraguay Universe? Describe the judging process.
In reality, the contest was very tough and competitive. We were all very pretty, highly cultured and with good figures. We had to undergo a series of social and behavioral tests, runway, photo sessions, fashion sense and social integration. There were a lot more personal indicators from the judges but they were unknown to us. I gave my all during the pageant.

What do you think are your qualities that helped you earn the judges' approval & the crown?
I believe that the judges saw in me a very sincere, responsible and genuine woman, besides the fact that I am very assured of myself. I believe that the judges thought that the kind of profile I have could best represent the real meaning of a true Paraguayan.

Tell us about your preparations for the Miss Universe contest.
My preparations for the pageant are doing very well. I trained inside a House of Beauty controlled by "Promociones Gloria" in Sta. Cruz de la Sierra in Bolivia. I am attending classes in speech and diction, make-up, fashion and runway. In Paraguay, I also did the same thing and underwent spa sessions and workouts to tone my body.

Can you tell something that is so interesting or unique about you?
One thing that is interesting about me is that I successfully carry out all demands of my work, my studies and my personal life day by day. I am somehow unique in the sense that I am a very good cook.

Any beauty queen/s that you really admire? Why?
I have no particular beauty queen that I admire. In reality, I admire all the beauty queens because they really worked to be up there as someone to be emulated from. They used their beauty to perform a role all throughout a year.

Describe your fashion sense and style.
My style is simple and casual with a touch of glamour. I prefer wearing comfortable garments.

How will you describe your country to your co-candidates at Miss Universe?
Paraguay has a unique ecosystem; we have majestic forests and crystalline streams. Our mountain range called the "Chaco Paraguay" has a desert climate. In short, we have very pretty landscapes. But we have something that identifies us best and it is our sincerity and warmth above all the other things.

What is your opinion on activists' point of view that exposure of too much skin in the swimsuit competition disrespects women?
Just as long it is not done in a grotesque and improper way, and it won't offend anyone then I believe that it's not disrespectful. In a beauty pageant, it is just a part and parcel of the contest. I don't find it as a form of display of pornographic intent because we do not parade in the nude. I personally don't find it as disrespect to women. It is one way of showing that we exist and that in all forms of work, there is discrimination. And this is something that we as women are very much against with. There is other things that can offend a woman and these involve discriminations, harassments, the list continues.

Supposed there is a Genie who happens to be mad at you for a wrong deed committed and his punishment is to turn you into an animal for a year. You can't plead to alter his decision but you get to decide what type of animal you would become, what creature would you choose and why?
A bird, because it is an animal that does not go through any barriers and it has the ability to fly high up the sky and has limitless territory. For me, the birds are synonymous to liberty.

If it were your last day on earth, what would you eat & why?
I would like to eat a viand of meat that my grandmother cooks for me because I consider it as very rich in taste as it is being harvested in land.

Do you have a motto or personal quote that you live by?
If you want it, you can have it.

Aside from winning your title, what's the best thing that has ever happened to you?
I feel very successful at this stage and I find it very important because any experiences for that matter, whether small or great, help me very much in the formation of my own being.

Do you think winning a beauty pageant is really important? Tell us about your responsibilities as Miss Paraguay titleholder.
With all the goals that you set for yourself, it is important to reach the end. Winning this contest has enabled me to draw nearer to many people and work for the needy. It is very important because once you win the contest; you are not your own persona anymore. You are now the embodiment of your country. You are not just a beautiful girl anymore. But you are now the reflection of all people in your county.

Why do you want do be crowned Miss Universe and how would you define the title in your own terms?
To be crowned Miss Universe is my next challenge. Never before that a Paraguayan was extolled with this title. And I would love to be the first one! I want to become Miss Universe because I want to advance the humanitarian cause of the organization. Foremost however, it would give me chance to highlight what a Paraguayan can do as a Miss Universe. It will not only be an opportunity for my country to be known of its distinctiveness in culture and aspirations but it will also show that we can make a difference in this world.

What should pageant experts, your fellowmen, fans and beauty watchers expect from Miss Paraguay at Miss Universe 2006 pageant?
They will find a person who is very diligent, responsible, cordial, a very good person who is incapable of offending or discriminating anyone. A person that radiates with happiness and great energy!

Finally, leave a message for your fans, supporters and the readers of Missosology.
I am very thankful for my title as Miss Paraguay because many people offered me a great deal of affection. When I became Miss Paraguay, I have met a lot of marvelous people- people from all walks of life and also learned more about my country. When I went to Bolivia to train, I have learned that being Miss Paraguay is not just having the title but also learning everything that goes with the title so that I can represent my country as the embodiment of my people. I wish to thank my family who has given me life and to my friends and special people who believe in me. I will go to Miss Universe with all the hopes and aspirations not only for myself but also of my people. I already feel like Miss Universe at this point and when the time of the coronation night arrives, I will be very thankful and inspired by all your affections.
