Height ain't Might?
Standing 5'5", Tara is one of the "shortest" Miss USA titleholders. 5'4" tall Kimberly Pressler who represented USA in Miss Universe 1999 held in Trinidad & Tobago failed to make the cut.

Biography
The union of John Conner and Brenda Johnson, Tara is the first woman from Kentucky to win the Miss USA title in the 55-year history of the pageant. She hails from Russell Springs. She expects people in her hometown from the south, with a population around 2,500, to be pretty excited about her win. This 20 year-old stunner has blonde hair and brown eyes.

Education
Tara is a graduate of Russell County High School. She is taking up Business Administration at Somerset Community College in south-central Kentucky. Her part-time jobs include being a model and a waitress.

Did you know?
Tara has been competing in pageants since age 4, when she was third runner-up in the Casey County Apple Festival pageant. By age 13, she won the title of Young Miss Russell County at the county fair. Her dad would describe her as "a ponytail girl, a pajama-wearing, sweat girl whom she often nagged to put makeup on "or at least sunglasses & lipstick" before she goes out.

Miss Kentucky USA
On Sunday November 27th 2005, Tara beat thirty-seven women from across Kentucky to take the prestigious crown of MISS KENTUCKY USA®, earning her the right to represent her state in Miss USA 2006. Her court includes, in order from fourth to first were: Amanda Nunnelley of Louisville, Michelle Banzer of Louisville, Aimee Smith of Lexington, and Lara Wilson of Ashland.

Miss Teen – Miss USA
Tara represented Kentucky in Miss Teen USA 2002 won by Wisconsin's Vanessa Marie Semrow on August 28, 2002. Tara topped the swimsuit competition and took the Bluepoint fitness and swimsuit award. She finished as 2nd runner-up. It is interesting to note that she is the 8th former Miss Teen USA participant in 11 years to be crowned Miss USA

MISS USA 2006
Tara Elizabeth Connor won the Miss USA 2006 pageant in the 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore, MD on Friday, April 21. She will compete as Miss USA July 23 in the Miss Universe competition in Los Angeles. Her court includes 1st Runner-up Tamiko Nash of California, 2nd Runner-up Lisa Wilson of Georgia, 3rd Runner-up Stacy Offenberger of Ohio and 4th Runner-up Cristin Duren of Florida. The 55th annual Miss USA competition was broadcasted live in NBC. The panel of judges who chose her includes Chad Hendrick, Nicole Linkletter, James Hyde, Gina Drosos, Conner, Steve Madden, Hines Ward, Jillian Barberie, and Donald Trump Jr. Nancy O'Dell, Carson Kressley & Drew Lachey hosted the event.
