Latvia may be a small Baltic state but it is a country that takes everything that represents it with pride. They are yet to make an impact at major beauty pageants but they are very serious to achieve something in the world of pageantry. Everyone should believe that Latvia is really serious after choosing drop-dead gorgeous Kristina Djadenko as Miss World 2007 representative,

Describe the village or place where you grew up?

I was born in a city, which was once known as the face of the Eastern Europe – Riga. I think it is best described as a place where western lifestyle is blended with a mix of eastern and middle European cultures.

How would you describe yourself to the world?

I love the world around me. I love life itself and these feelings don’t stay unanswered.

What are the beautiful things about Latvia that you are proud of?

I am proud of my country because of its rich cultural and social heritage. I am proud of our people who managed to rebuild our country to a high European standard after the collapse of USSR. I am proud of our small country and our people with great hearts.

Did you always dream to become Miss Latvia or did you have some other ambitions as a child?

Since my childhood, I am watching beauty contests. I am always happy for the winners. But I have never dreamt about that for it was something impossible. But I persuaded myself that even impossible things can be possible. Just don’t be afraid to try and participate! You can’t win lottery if you didn’t buy any lottery tickets!

Describe the selection process during your national pageant.

It was a long but very interesting moment in my life. At the beginning I became a runner-up at Miss Riga. I was grateful for that. Then, I got into the semifinal of Miss Latvia. After that in the finals. I even didn’t imagine that I could be a new Miss Latvia. There are so many beautiful girls from all over the country but I just enjoyed the atmosphere.

Name a beauty queen that you had always admired and wish to emulate.

I have never wanted to emulate anyone, my parents took great care to rise me as a human with my own personality and I strongly agree that each and every individual is good in its own way. I could however partly answer the question with a fact that I always admired Princess Diana for her delicate charm, her distinguished taste in clothing and of course, the great amount of her effort to help people who needed help.

How would you define beauty?

I would say that beauty is an emotional and moral self-sufficiency. It has something to do with the mind and a healthy physical attractiveness.

At any given moment, what would your handbag contain?

My handbag would contain my mobile phone with all the phone numbers of the people close to me and on whom I can rely on and those who can reach me if they need some help.

How would you see yourself someday - a family-oriented wife or a career woman?

I see myself as a loving, caring and family-oriented career woman. It will be difficult, but it is possible and totally worth it.

You have been to Miss Globe and Miss EU. Do you think that it will help you at Miss World 2007?

My attendance at other beauty contests will aid me with some kind of “technical” experience- how to behave in different country, how to maintain high spirit during the entire contest.
We are all equal - nothing can substitute experience. Beauty contests are not only about the experience.
