“I feel so blessed when my name was called as one of the winners. I got the crown because it was meant for me. I don’t consider myself a veteran because I just had one title prior to this, the Miss Cebu Tourism 2002. Joining minor pageants would help a candidate, but it can’t guarantee you victory,” Karla Bautista says during an interview after the Bb. Pilipinas 2004 coronation night.

Karla Bautista brought home the Bb. Pilipinas World title on March 6, 2004 in the Araneta Coliseum. The 41st Search for Binibining Pilipinas was considered having the strongest batch of contestants ever. Aside from Karla, the other victors were veterans, Maricar Balagtas (Bb. Pilipinas Universe) and Margaret Bayot (Bb. Pilipinas World).

I was very happy winning over the experienced candidates. "I was so nervous that I didn't know what to think. It was tough out there, she says. Karla Bautista won the Miss Cebu title before she first joined Binibining Pilipinas. She had an on and off fever before the pageant.

Her consistent performance all throughout the rounds earned her one of the crowns. Karla is considered smart and has a reputation of being a ramp model with great runway skills.

Karla had a long time preparing for the Miss World Contest in November. Her aim is to either duplicate or surpass the placements of her predecessors, Katherine Manalo (Miss World 2003 Top 10 finalist) and Maria Rafaela Yunon (Top5 Finalist).

For the first time in pageant history, the Miss World will be chosen by the viewers. Television voting will be launched on the 26th of this month in "Miss World – You Decide" giving an opportunity for viewers to cast their votes prior to, as well as during the live Miss World finals on Dec. 4. Filipinos all over the world are expected to support their representative to one of the biggest pageant in the world.
